SCIENTIFIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROPOSER:
IPI PAN is now a leading national centre of research in computer science.
The research activities are organized in two main departments:
Department of Theoretical Foundations of Computer Science
Department of Artificial Intelligence.
There are several working groups within the departments. Their research
concentretes on such important topics as:
-
software engineering and its mathematical foundations,
-
concurrency theory and parallel computer architectures,
-
foundations of artificial intelligence,
-
man-machine communication and computer graphics,
-
computational statistics and decision theory.
The IPI PAN has 90 employees with a staff of researchers of 56 persons
(more than 75% Ph.Ds). The Institute offers postgraduates and postdoctoral
research stays, a variety of research seminars open to all, and it participates
in the yearly organization of the School of Applications of Mathematics
for professionals in different areas). It organizes a number of international
conferences and gives professional advice to various institutions and enterprises.
Research results are presented in IPI PAN Reports. The Institute also
publishes an international journal Machine Graphics & Vision as well
as scientific books and dissertations.
