DATA FOR EMISSION SOURCES
AND LAND COVER

For the purpose of current work the actual data for the public power generation sector emission sources (power plants and cogeneration plants), which are included in the real-time control system, have been prepared. The data are used for actual sulphur compounds concentration calculations.

The analysis of possibilities of power control in Poland have been undertaken. The subject of analysis was country energy demands in the context of existing power burden and energy production on the yearly basis. From the country power disposal point of view, the following data for 90 power plants and cogeneration plants sources have been taken into account: energy production efficiency, energy production costs, long-term contracts concluded with Polish Power Grid Company, existing and planned ecological installations. As a results of performed analysis, 83 sources have been chosen for power optimization procedure.

The land-cover data for Poland are essential for the presented work. The land covers in each computational grid are needed as a input to the dry deposition submodel as well as to the area valorization model.

The land-cover map for the territory of Poland in the adopted computational grid have been prepared on the base of RIVM's original data (with geographical resolution of 10' x 10'). A Geographical Information System (Arc/Info) was used to convert original data into a projection and resolution suitable for the adopted computational grid (with resolution 30 km x 30 km). The following land-use categories are included in original data: coniferous and mixed forest, deciduous forest, permanent crops, grassland, urban areas, arable land, inland water, sea and "other". Additional category: "high mountain forest" have been introduced and added to the land-cover prepared for the current work.
