Since 1992, the
Institute of Computer Science
of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IPI PAN) has been organizing annual international workshops and symposia on intelligent information systems.
Scope
The current symposium covers theoretical foundations, comparative studies and
practical implementations of intelligent information systems, including:

Machine learning, knowledge discovery in data bases, scientific discovery
systems

Expert systems, reasoning systems, methods of knowledge representation,
knowledge engineering,

Neural networks, genetic and evolutionary algorithms, evolutionary computation,
other biologically inspired systems,

Distributed intelligent information systems, multiagent systems, cooperative
request processing

Management of uncertainty, fuzzy logic, rought sets, bayesian networks,
possibilistic theories, evidence theory,

Logical foundations of AI

Language
Language of all submissions and of the proceedings is English.
We invite all the contributors to make their presentations at the symposium
in English. However, Polish is acceptable for presentations.
Publication
Selected papers from those accepted for presentation
will appear in a volume of the book series:
"Advances in Soft Computing" published by the Springer-Verlag group (Physica-Verlag, Heidelberg and New
York).
Communications accepted will be published in Communications volume.
Also, some of the papers can be recommended for publishing in appropriate scientific journals.
Submission

Papers must be written in English
-
Papers can be submitted in one of two categories: (i) regular papers
(ii) short communications

The overall structure of a submitted paper should be as follows:
-

authors and their affiliations

abstract, keywords
-
text of the paper

references
-
The font size should not be smaller than 10pt.
-
Regular papers should not exceed 10 pages, and short communications - 5
pages.

The text area should be: width 13,5 cm, height 18.5 cm.

Minimal left margin required is 2 cm. Minimal top margin is 2 cm.
-
We accept only POSTSCRIPT version of the paper.

as an attachment (no other address is acceptable).
As soon as we receive the file, we will send a confirmation.

Take care that we receive the copy of the draft paper no later than November
15th 2000 and the final paper no later than February 15th 2001.

Please send us additionally by e-mail to iis@ipipan.waw.pl
in plain text the following information: authors, the final title in
English, title in Polish, and the exact number of pages, as well as the
short abstract and keywords.
